The durability of the folding pin depends on the steel used and the design.
What causes an increased wear?
In the conventional design, the ribbons are guided by the parallel area around the collecting cylinder. Due to the forward orientation of the folding pin and the resulting elongated hole in the paper, the ribbons have the opportunity to move and rub against the folding pin. This results in increased wear.
How can the durability be optimised?
By using a hardened needle, the durability of the folding pin can be multiplied. Furthermore, due to the improved design, there is more material and less chafing of the ribbons, which further improves the durability.
