Cracking - Long Knives & Pressure Bars

Cracking - Long Knives & Pressure Bars

Knives and pressure bars may get small haircracks, mostly because of a wrong handling, which may lead to bigger cracks / outbreaks.

The reasons can be:

  1. 1. Wrong regrinding process
  2. 2. Wrong installation of the knives and pressure bars in the peeling or slicing machine (too much pressure)
  3. 3. Impurities inside the wood / logs

To avoid cracking of long knives and pressure bars we recommend:

ad 1) Make sure to follow TKM grinding recommendations
ad 2) Make sure to follow OEM´s instructions
ad 3) Careful log preparation is necessary (debarking, stones or metal inclusions)
