Wood chip quality (Chipping)

The customer notices an increasing amount of too small and/or oversized  wood chips.

Knives (chop knives, counter knives) are dull and therefore they don’t chip the wood accordingly.
  • Timely re-sharpening of chipper knives and counter knives


Important tips:

  • Speed of the installation (rotational frequency) needs to be checked and adjusted as specified by the manufacturer
  • To increase the quantity of “acceptable wood chips” especially in the pulp industry, customers vary by/with angle geometry, pre-bevels or counter-bevels on chipper knives
